On behalf of our client, a 5* Resort in Folegandros, we are hiring a Senior Accounts & Payroll Officer. This is a hybrid position, requiring on-site presence during the summer season when the resort is operational, and remote work during the winter when the property is closed.

The Role:
As a Senior Accounts & Payroll Officer, you will take a hands-on role in overseeing and executing the financial operations of the resort. This position requires not only managing but also directly handling day-to-day accounting and payroll processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records, processing payroll in line with Greek labor laws, and maintaining compliance with local tax regulations. Your active involvement will be crucial to the seamless financial and administrative functioning of the resort.
Accounts Management
- Oversee and execute the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring all transactions are accurate and recorded in a timely manner.
- Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department heads.
- Ensure compliance with Greek accounting standards and applicable laws by directly managing financial documentation.
Payroll Management
- Take full responsibility for processing the payroll for all resort staff, ensuring timely and accurate salary disbursement in line with Greek labor laws and collective agreements.
- Calculate salaries, bonuses, overtime, holiday pay, and applicable deductions (social security, taxes, pension, etc.).
- Maintain payroll records, ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date, and ensure employees are paid correctly.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee payroll-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with HR to update employee records, salary adjustments, and leave tracking.
- Ensure compliance with all labor laws, tax regulations, and employee benefits administration, performing hands-on work in these areas.
Financial Compliance & Auditing
- Prepare and submit all statutory financial reports, including VAT, social security contributions, and other taxes, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Assist with external audits by preparing accurate documentation and managing direct communication with auditors.
- Ensure that internal controls are in place to safeguard financial assets and maintain proper financial procedures, implementing improvements where necessary.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify and implement opportunities for streamlining accounting and payroll processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide financial analysis to support decision-making processes for the resort’s management team.
- Report regularly to senior management on financial performance, payroll statistics, and compliance issues.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional accounting certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and payroll, with at least 2 years in a senior role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a 5-star resort or hotel.
- Proven experience in both overseeing and executing accounting and payroll functions.
- In-depth knowledge of Greek labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll systems.
- Proficient in accounting software and payroll management systems.
- Excellent proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Fluency in Greek and English (both written and spoken) is required.
- Experience in handling multiple currencies and knowledge of tourism-related financial challenges is a plus.
