Actionline Ltd., is a Greek company that specializes in the provision of innovative human resources solutions, certified in Greece with ISO 9001:2015. Actionline is currently seeking on behalf of its client, Thermoilektriki Komotinis, for a Chemist.
Key Accountabilities:
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures:
- Follow up all relevant Operation & Maintenance procedures and instructions so that work can be carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Develop, prepare, and review Operation Procedures & Instructions
Departmental Reports:
- Generate or assist in generation of any departmental reports are prepared as per management requests, in a timely and accurate manner to meet company and department requirements governing reporting.
Health, Safety and Environment:
- Comply with all agreed occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations to protect personnel and physical assets. Ensure that the work areas are kept in a clean, tidy state in order that work can be carried out safely and effectively.
- Work with Komotini Power Work Permit System/LOTO to ensure safety from the system during all works performed.
- Be proactive in and promote health and safety culture with Operation Department.
- Ensure personal compliance with the PPE requirements of Komotini Power HSE guidelines.
Continuous Improvement:
- Provide input and recommend the continuous improvement of the company practices considering international best practices, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand action plans.
Day to day activities
- Monitoring the chemical condition of the water treatment plant equipment
- Operate the water treatment plant and its regeneration process as required.
- Responsible for monitoring the chemical conditions of the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG); operate the water steam cycle chemical dosing equipment when required.
- In charge of monitoring the chemical conditions of the wastewater and effluent system; operate the wastewater treatment system when required.
- Monitor the HRSG exhaust gas condition and alert the shift supervisor when necessary.
- Ensure that throughout the Power Plant all chemical parameters are within healthy condition and advice the shift supervisor or Operation Manager of any defects and impact on production. • Issue a work request when necessary.
- Carry out any analytical tests when necessary.
- Responsible for the daily activities of the Power Plant chemical laboratory
- Management of the receipt and storage of all hazardous materials at site
- Management of the MSDS registers together with the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) function.
- Give input to the Operation Manager for budget preparation.
- Timely completion of all required Chemical and Environmental Reporting
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemical or Chemical Engineering
Working Experience:
- Experience in water treatment and process chemistry control.
- Experience in Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) is an advantage.
Job Specific Skills:
- Knowledge of engineering practices, functions and processes involved in the operation and maintenance of a CCPP.
- Knowledge of typical legislation associated with CCPP operation and maintenance, especially handling of liquid effluent from the plant.
- Housekeeping/waste management culture
- Strong Diagnostic skills in complex systems/equipment.
- Very Good knowledge of English Language
- Very Good knowledge of MS Office
- Respond to emergency conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work under pressure.
